Amazonian Indigenous Delegation’s Actions in Paris and London

Indigenous leaders from the Amazon gathered with representatives from Amazon Watch, International Rivers and the Rainforest Foundation in Paris and London to protest the construction of mega-dams in the Amazon.

The delegation tour through Europe included Sheyla Yakarepi Juruna, representative of the Juruna People of the Xingu River Basin in Brazil; Chief Almir Narayamoga Surui, leader of the Suruí People of the Madeira River Basinin Brazil; and Ruth Buendia Mestoquiari, President of Central Ashaninka People of the Ene River in Peru. They were joined by partner organizations, celebrities, political figures and the media for this protest and other public events in major European cities.
