No Matter the Outcome of the Election, We’ll Continue To Fight For the Amazon

November 7, 2016 | Eye on the Amazon

Tomorrow marks the end of a wrenching election season here in the U.S., one with barely a mention of climate change, and with no significant policy proposals to protect our environment.

But comprehensive action is urgently needed, and so no matter the outcome of the election, Amazon Watch will continue to work with our courageous indigenous partners to develop and support groundbreaking and transformative solutions to protect their territories and the Amazon, just as we have for the last twenty years.

The Amazon is the heart pump of the global weather system, and scientists say that 50% of it could be deforested by 2020. Without the Amazon, we can’t survive this climate crisis. But by advancing the rights of indigenous peoples and protecting their territories we can save the Amazon, and the Earth’s climate.

We can go a different path – stop the dams, stop the oil and gas mining, stop the deforestation, opt for clean energy solutions, and permanently protect indigenous ancestral territories. Please watch and share this video, and join us in making change.
