When: Sunday, April 2, at 3 PM

Civil society organizations from Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Peru, and the United States will brief the media on key controversies, challenges, and opportunities facing the IDB’s new administration on issues of regional integration, poverty reduction, and sustainable development.

The panel will speak on the IDB’s current internal restructuring, the Bank’s inadequate accountability mechanism, its support for highly damaging projects like Camisea, Cana Brava, and Yacerytá, and its promotion of IIRSA, the Initiative for Integration of Regional Infrastructure in South America.

Participants include indigenous Amazonian leaders from Peru, Members of Rios Vivos Coalition, and the Articulación Frente a IIRSA, a region-wide civil society network concerned with transparency and accountability of International Financial Institutions.

The Delegation has so far met with IDB Vice-President Ciro de Falco and CAF President Enrique Garcia, various executive directors and officials from member-countries and will continue to present their concerns to other Bank officials through April 5.
