Josefina Tunki is the first woman president of the Shuar Arutam organization (PSHA), which represents some 12,000 people in 47 communities across the Ecuadorian and Peruvian Amazon. During her presidency, she has fought against the increasing threats of mining on PSHA territory while serving as an advocate and inspiration to her community.
