Calgary, Canada – Traveling from the remote northern Peruvian Amazon, Peas Peas Ayui, leader of the National Achuar Federation of Peru (FENAP), is in Canada as part of a multi-city campaign tour to protect the Achuar people’s ancestral territory and culture from Calgary-based Talisman Energy’s operations in the Amazon region. Talisman Energy’s controversial plans to expand oil operations into Oil Block 64 threatens the Achuar peoples way of life. The Achuar vehemently oppose Talisman’s plans to expand seismic testing and drill further exploratory wells in Achuar hunting and fishing grounds in the heart of their ancestral territory.
