Investor’s Eye on the Amazon – December 2011

December 2011 | Amazon Watch | Report

In this winter edition of Investor’s Eye on the Amazon, we would like to draw your attention to a co-filing opportunity at Chevron, where a group of social investors are filing three separate resolutions at the company, related to corporate governance issues and management of legal liabilities in Ecuador. The deadline for co-filing is December 16th.

Featured here, as well, is an urgent on-the-ground testimony from two catholic priests in the northern Peruvian Amazon about Canadian company Talisman Energy’s divisive oil operations in the ancestral territory of the Achuar people. Also, an update from the frontlines in Ecuador where Rukullacta Kichwa leaders and community members have rejected Ivanhoe Energy’s controversial oil operations in their ancestral territory and have taken the battle to Ecuador’s congress.
