January and October 2002 ACT twice dispatched an expert radio technician to deliver extensive training in radio communication to Amazonian indigenous organizations fighting to prevent the invasion of their pristine forest homelands by multinational oil companies.

Ecuador Team Mission
The team was deployed on a month-long mission to Ecuador (March 8-April 9, 2001). This mission was organized in response to repeated requests from several Ecuadorian indigenous organizations facing threats from new oil projects.
Bolivia Field Mission
The Amazon communications team organized a field mission accompanied by members of Friends of the Earth and Bank Information Center to the San Matias region in Eastern Bolivia.
Training Workshop
The team organized a media and communications training workshop prior to the annual meeting of the Amazon Alliance in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. The three-day workshop was attended by more than 30 indigenous leaders from Bolivia, Ecuador, Brazil, Guyana and Suriname.
Venezuela Mission
The Amazon Communications Team joined the Pemon indians in the Gran Sabana in Venezuela, where the Pemon are protesting the construction of the Guri powerline.

The Amazon Communications Team went on a mission to the Venezuelan Amazon. Our mobile media team attended the Summit of Amazonian indigenous leaders of Venezuela, Guyana, and Brazil. In addition to publicizing the event, the Amazon Communications Team conducted a Media Workshop for the Indigenous leaders.
