    Stand With Awajún and Wampis Women!

    In Condorcanqui, in the Peruvian Amazon, Awajún and Wampis women are demanding protection and justice for survivors of sexual violence. Through the Awajún Wampis Women’s Council Umukai Yawi (COMUAWUY), they accompany survivors, organize community defenders, and provide refuge where government services fall short.

    Stand in solidarity and amplify their call! Urge Peru’s government to establish a state-run shelter and secure 2027 funding for professionals providing care, protection, and access to justice.

    I stand in solidarity with the Awajún Wampis Women’s Council Umukai Yawi (COMUAWUY) and amplify their call for protection and justice for Indigenous women, girls, and adolescents in Condorcanqui.

    I urge you to act on their demands:

    • Build and operate a state-run Temporary Shelter in Santa María de Nieva, with culturally appropriate care for survivors and their families.
    • Secure sufficient, sustained funding in Peru’s 2027 Public Budget to retain professionals providing care, protection, and access to justice for survivors in Condorcanqui.

    Work directly with COMUAWUY and Awajún and Wampis women to turn these demands into funded commitments with clear timelines.
