International Day of Action to Defend the Amazon

On August 22, 2011 people in 22 cities spanning 16 countries held solidarity demonstrations to urge Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff to cancel the controversial Belo Monte Dam and to defend the forest code. Members and allies of Amazon Watch were joined by dozens of local and Brazilian activists around the planet in a movement to defend the Amazon.
