El Pan-Amazon Social Forum (FOSPA) is an autonomous, pluralistic regional platform held every two years, bringing together Indigenous Peoples, Afro-descendant Peoples, local communities, social movements, civil society organizations, and academia from the nine countries and territories of the Amazon Basin: Ecuador, Peru, Brazil, Bolivia, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana.
It was created as a space for those who live in, defend, and think about the Amazon from the perspective of its territories to come together, with the aim of strengthening struggles for life, territories, environmental and social justice, and systems of self-government in the face of the many threats confronting the region amid the global climate crisis.
Amazon Watch will be participating and accompanying our many partners in the region before, during, and after the forum.
Today, the Amazon is approaching a critical point of no return, with impacts that go beyond the environment and threaten life, identity, self-determination, and the planet’s climate balance. In this context, since its creation in 2002 as part of the World Social Forum, FOSPA has become a key space for political coordination, collective reflection, and strategic action among peoples and civil society to curb extractivism and advance alternatives from within the region.
Within this framework, the 12th Pan-Amazon Social Forum will be held in a binational format, reflecting a political and strategic decision to strengthen regional coordination. The 12th FOSPA will take place in Puyo and Yasuní, Ecuador, from August 16–21, 2026. Colombia will then host the 13th FOSPA in Mocoa the following year, in 2027.

August 16: Visit to the Jantuyaku River in Napo
This is a field trip organized as part of the effort to stop the expansion of mining along the Jantuyaku River. Organized by Hakhu.
August 16-17: Indigenous Peoples’ Autonomous Event
This event is designed to foster dialogue among indigenous organizations in the Amazon basin with the aim of developing a mandate from indigenous peoples and their proposals for FOSPA. This event is organized by FOSPA’s Casa 2.
August 17: Amazonian Women’s Fair – Defenders of the Rainforest and Their Ancestral Knowledge

The 3rd Regional Tribunal on the Rights of Nature for a Fossil-Fuel-Free Amazon will bring together Indigenous peoples, local communities, civil society organizations, experts, scientists, and international judges to analyze how the expansion of fossil fuel extraction is affecting the Amazon and violating the Rights of Nature.
