Amazon Watch is a dynamic nonprofit organization working to protect and defend the Amazon rainforest and climate in solidarity with Indigenous peoples. We work to advance and amplify Indigenous rights, resistance and solutions to protect and defend the Amazon-Basin; develop and implement rapid response protocols and campaigns to defend Earth Defenders of the Amazon; and expand international advocacy campaigns to halt and hold accountable the global drivers of Amazon destruction. We are seeking an Executive Assistant (EA) who is committed to our mission and shares our values. The EA will be responsible for assisting the Executive Director in all aspects of work, including monitoring and responding to communications and requests, managing the ED’s calendar, travel logistics, document processing, and providing personalized and timely support to members of the Board of Directors, Advisory Board and Indigenous Advisors and donors.

This is a full-time position based in our Oakland, CA headquarters. However, during the COVID-19 pandemic all Amazon Watch staff will work remotely.


  • Coordinate executive communications, including taking calls, responding to emails and interfacing with members of the Staff and the Board of Directors
  • Manage information flow in a timely and accurate manner
  • Maintain ED’s appointment schedule by planning and scheduling meetings, conferences, teleconferences, and travel
  • Make travel and accommodation arrangements for the ED and members of the Board of Directors
  • Manage ED’s expenses and prepare monthly Expensify reports
  • Provide support to the Development Team related to Major Donor and Foundations communications, reports, mailings, etc.
  • Format and send emails for external communication with major donors and supporters
  • Provide support for public speaking presentations and webinars, including conferences and fundraising events
  • Coordinate with Communications Team to amplify ED as spokesperson for the organization
  • Support ED with special projects including Pan Amazon Movement Building and/or team building activities
  • Schedule Board of Directors and Committee meetings, including monthly meetings with Board Chair
  • Provide support for meetings, including scheduling, creating and distributing Board Agenda, and all logistics, as necessary
  • Uphold a strict level of confidentiality


  • 3-5 years work experience as an Executive Assistant, Personal Assistant, or similar role
  • Excellent MS Office knowledge
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills
  • Familiarity with office gadgets and applications (e.g. e-calendars and copy machines)
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Spanish language proficiency preferred
  • Discretion and confidentiality

Salary Range

$65,000 - $70,000.
