Urge Brazil's Chief Justice to Maintain Suspension of the Belo Monte Dam
A month ago we celebrated the news that a high court in Brazil had ordered the immediate halt to construction of the Belo Monte Dam due to a lack of prior consultations with affected indigenous peoples. However, the Chief Justice of the Federal Supreme Court overturned that decision. A new appeal from Public Prosecutors is asking for him to reconsider his decision or allow a vote by the full Supreme Court.
Send an email to Supreme Court Chief Justice Ayres Britto calling on him to respect the rights of indigenous peoples of the Xingu and maintain the suspension of the Belo Monte Dam!
