Ecuador Radio Training Missions

January 1, 2002 | Campaign Update

January and October 2002 ACT twice dispatched an expert radio technician to deliver extensive training in radio communication to Amazonian indigenous organizations fighting to prevent the invasion of their pristine forest homelands by multinational oil companies. In recent months, improved internal communication (via radio and email networks) provided by ACT training has proved crucial to the maintenance of indigenous unity in the face of aggressive divisive tactics by oil companies. Donated communications equipment (radios) was transferred on both missions.
